Is green tea as healthy as you think?



When we think of ‘green’ it means safe and healthy, so it’s in our perception that going green is healthier and safer you.

Though the side effects are way less than the side effects caused by generic tea, however, green tea has relatively few side effects. They are listed below:

1.      Stomach related problems

Tannins present in the green tea leaves can cause digestive problems, it increases the stomach acidity. As the green tea does not undergo the process of fermentation or oxidation, so the tannins are not removed. Hence lead to stomach issues such as nausea, stomachache, and constipation.

2.      Iron Deficiency and Anemia

Green tea is boosted with antioxidants such as catechins, which can lead to the reduction of iron absorption from food. Having an iron deficiency means a high risk of anemia; it is a condition when the body loses the capacity of forming new red blood cells. Anemia leads to fatigue as well as tiredness as the sufficient oxygen is not reaching to the cells of the body due to the low level of hemoglobin.
